All-Star Band Celebrates Bob Dylan’s Birthday

SYDNEY, Australia, 16 May 2005 - Tenderhooksmusic today announced that The Bob Dylan Show, Australia’s Bob Dylan tribute act, will perform with it’s all-star band in celebration of Bob Dylan’s Birthday at The Cat And Fiddle Hotel in Balmain on Saturday, May 28.

Douglass Bishop who fronts The Bob Dylan Show as Dylan, takes the audience seamlessly through the musical repertoire of the great man. With over thirty songs laid down in the evening, Bishop is outstanding in the role. His uncanny vocals and Dylan-looks, fine harmonica work and costume transformations bring to life enduring Dylan hits such as, Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door, Hurricane and Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues.

“This will be a rich evening with some of the best music of our times.” says Bishop. “I’m blown away to be performing these songs with some of Sydney’s best musicians. This band seriously rocks.”

With stand-out lead guitar by Dennis Val, Guy Chapman’s effortless bass and violin, Stan Holroyd, perpetuator of the Hammond organ legacy and Chris Thompson in the engine room on drums, the band captures the essence of Dylan's magic but also produces an authentic sound of its own.

Special birthday guest Johnny Cash (Bosco Bosanac) will join the band for several legendary songs he and Dylan sang together in 1969, like Ring Of Fire and Man In Black.

The real Mr Dylan who turns 64 on the 24th of May has his name on the door and a piece of cake reserved but was unavailable for comment on whether he would be attending the show.
